Vasko Lh2 Will Set Up a Sustainable Supply Chain of Green Liquid Hydrogen to Markets in Asia and Europe

In Phase 1 Vasko Lh2 India is set to produce its own electrolysers, which are electrochemical reactors that can split water into oxygen and hydrogen using electricity. This hydrogen can be used as a storable chemical fuel and could play a key role in a clean energy future as a primary energy carrier. Currently, industrial-scale water electrolysis is not cost-effective due to high electricity prices, but this could change in a renewable energy future with low or free electricity during times of excess solar or wind power. The key factor in the economics of water electrolysis will be the capital costs of the electrolysers, which need to be reduced. Vasko Lh2 India is exploring the challenges and opportunities in electrolysers, which could potentially revolutionize the production of low-cost hydrogen in a renewable energy future.

In Phase 2 the project plans to deliver 40 t/d green liquid hydrogen, produced in India from renewable electricity to the Indian road transport market at a highly competitive price. Apart from maintaining the existing zero-rating for fuel tax, the project does not require any subsidy to be commercially viable.

The project will be derisked technically and commercially via a Front End and Detailed Engineering and Design as well as negotiating green liquid hydrogen offtake agreements, power supply agreements, and financing prior to Final Investment Decision. The project makes very attractive financial returns to investors without state subsidies.

Hydrogen (LH2)

Electrolyser’s are devices that use electricity to split water into hydrogen and oxygen through a process called electrolysis. This technology plays a crucial role in the production of green hydrogen, as it enables the extraction of hydrogen from water without any harmful emissions.

Green hydrogen refers to hydrogen produced using renewable energy sources, such as wind or solar power, through the process of electrolysis. It is a clean and sustainable alternative to conventional hydrogen production methods, which often rely on fossil fuels.

Green hydrogen offers a viable solution to decarbonize various sectors, including transportation, industry, and power generation. By replacing fossil fuels with green hydrogen, we can significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and combat climate change.

Green hydrogen can be stored and used as an energy carrier, providing a reliable and scalable solution for intermittent renewable energy sources. It allows excess renewable energy to be stored and utilized during periods of high demand or when renewable sources are not available.

Green hydrogen has the potential to integrate different sectors, such as electricity, transportation, and heating, creating a more interconnected and efficient energy system. It can be used as a fuel for fuel cell vehicles, a feedstock for industrial processes, or even as a clean heating source.
